Gas station loan requirements partners usually read
- Fuel volume and inside sales, by month, separately
- Fuel supply agreement and its term
- Card-processing statements
- Environmental reports for the site, where a purchase is involved
- The lease or deed, and any franchise or branding agreement
- Licenses the store holds for regulated products
Partners do not publish fixed thresholds. Partners may look at inside sales and fuel sales separately.
How to buy a gas station: what gets reviewed
Buying a station is a term-loan question, with a lot to review: the real estate or lease, the tanks and dispensers, the fuel contract, environmental history and the store's sales. Property lending itself is outside the structures on this site, but a business purchase where the real estate is leased, or the equipment and goodwill portion of a purchase, can be.
Environmental questions, tank compliance and branding contracts belong with your attorney and environmental consultant. The term loan page explains acquisition financing in general.
How much does it cost to stock a convenience store? Use your own numbers
There is no single figure; it depends on the store's size, its categories and how often it turns. The way to estimate it is from your own numbers: weekly cost of goods sold for inside sales, multiplied by the number of weeks of stock you carry. Stores that carry beer, tobacco or lottery have higher-value categories to fund.
Illustrative arithmetic (not an offer)
A c-store with $14,000 a week in inside sales at a 32% gross margin has about $9,500 a week in cost of goods. Carrying three weeks of stock means roughly $28,500 tied up on shelves and in the back room. A new owner taking over an empty store, or adding a category, is one case for inventory financing.
Convenience store financing for equipment
Walk-in and reach-in coolers, ice machines, food-service equipment, point-of-sale systems and security cameras can be financed on their own through equipment financing. Dispensers and tank equipment are specialized; partners that consider them will ask for detailed quotes.
Fuel, cards and daily cash
Fuel loads are paid on the supplier's terms, while card settlements arrive after the sale on the processor's schedule and card fees come out of sales. When fuel costs swing, the cash needed for each load swings with them. A line of credit sized to one or two loads gives room without a new request each time.

Questions to answer before a station purchase
- How much of gross profit comes from inside sales versus fuel?
- When does the fuel supply agreement end, and can it be assigned?
- What environmental reports exist for the site, and how recent are they?
- Which store categories turn fastest, and which tie up the most cash?
- Are any regulated-product licenses transferable, or must the buyer apply?
Partners ask these in some form; having the answers organized shortens the review.
